History

Joseph Webster, David James, and Wes Wilhelm laid ground to Long Cove in August of 1980. Priority was placed on promoting seclusion and alleviating the seasonal traffic-spikes that are the bane of typical resorts developments.

After honing their planning skills at the Sea Pines Company, the trio decided to pursue a different approach. In contrast to Hilton Head’s many public courses, Long Cove’s Pete Dye course would be exclusive to owner-members and their guests. Upon opening in 1985, Golf Digest ranked the course one of the “Top 20 in the United States”.

Golf & Tennis

• Long Cove Golf Club: According to Pete Dye, Long Cove Golf Club was “built by people who love golf”. Golf And Travel named the course “#2 Top 40 Real Estate Courses”.
• Long Cove Tennis Club: 8 courts. Har-Tru surfaces, including 4 lighted for nighttime play. World-class instructional clinics, tournament play, and a private viewing terrace.

Recreation

• Long Cove Marina: Located on the banks of Broad Creek. Features 85+ slips. Included fee-free with property membership. Communal kayaks and dinghy docks are available.
• Long Cove Farm: Offering member plots, irrigation infrastructure, and a farm-to-table garden.

Long Cove Club Real Estate Listings

The centerpiece of Long Cove is the members-only golf course. Over the past decade, a tennis center, marina, and community gardens were added to the Long Cove amenities portfolio.

Homes in Long Cove are a mix of single-story residential, all the way up to impressive custom-built micro mansions. Most of the homes were built between 1980 and 2000. In terms of architecture and aesthetics, homes in Long Cove exhibit an impressive array of styles and finishes.

Due to the exclusivity of the Pete Dye course, many members purchased homesites in exchange for golf privileges. Consequently, lots in Long Cove can be a rare commodity.
